“SHIFT: To move from one place, position, direction to another”
November 5, 2009, Hawai‘i Convention Center, Honolulu, HI
The first TEDxHonolulu was themed “Shift” and featured “speakers who inspired the audience to make changes physically, mentally, and emotionally to change their lives and inevitably the world.” Presenters included: Neil Blecherman, Jill Buck, Henk Rogers, Kaiser Kuo and Jason Tom.
“Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) has gone global and continues to expand with local, self organized events called TEDx (where x denotes independently organized events). Thanks to familiar faces, Hawai‘i is fortunate to have its own TEDx event, TEDxHonolulu.
“TEDxHonolulu, the 50th state’s first entry into TEDx, the independently organized TED event. Traci Toguchi served as Producer of the event…and Neenz [Faleafine] was at it again, organizing inspirational speakers for our TEDx.
“The best way to experience TEDxHonolulu is to watch the videos. Only then will you truly appreciate Neil Blecherman’s drive for environmental sustainability, Jill’s passion to go green, Henk’s pursuit of high tech in Hawai‘i, and Kaiser’s cutting analysis of Sino-American relationships online and off. My words won’t do TEDxHonolulu justice.”
