In the zone. Peak performance. Absolute focus. We’ve all experienced FLOW, those moments when the perfect combination of risk-taking, clarity and control takes us to an unlimited level of achievement.
During the intensity of a FLOW experience, we feel fully aware and immersed in the moment. We’re learning more, gaining new insights and making new connections. We surprise ourselves and reach greater heights than we thought were possible.
In his seminal work, best selling author and social theorist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi defines FLOW as “the mental state of operation in which the person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing, characterized by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.”
Tapping into FLOW can enhance our lives in significant ways, and we can intentionally create the FLOW experience. We can even make it even more powerful by carefully engineering our intention, attention and action.
The TEDxHonolulu July 2016 event will be a collaborative, unrestricted exploration of FLOW. It will be a series of compelling conversations and interactions bringing together exciting innovators across a range of disciplines — sports, science, the arts, spirituality, education, business and more. Our speakers will share how they experience and intensify their encounters with FLOW, and how they use FLOW to continuously improve their physical, social and mental performance in their professional and personal lives.
