TEDxHonolulu is very excited to welcome ag-guru Steven Chiang to our team as guest curator for our March 15, 2016 TEDxHonoluluSalon 6 “The Future of Agriculture in Hawaii.”
The more we learn about it, the more we understand that everything is deeply interconnected with agriculture in Hawaii: sustainability, development, community, health, culture…and so much more. TEDxHonoluluSalon 6 will be a fascinating and important conversation about how Hawaii’s farmers, merchants, entrepreneurs and consumers are creating new ways for agriculture to help us build stronger, healthier and more prosperous communities.
Steven’s presentation at last year’s TEDxHonolulu conference was one of the most informative, inspiring and entertaining (“Farming is the new sexy” was just one of his many memorable quotes). We’re delighted to have him join us again as guest-curator to expand upon, and branch out from, his 2015 presentation.
Chiang is co-founder of GoFarm Hawaii, the premier beginning farmer training program in Hawaii and an innovative role model for other programs that help turn the Ag-Curious into successful commercial farmers. Steven is also Director of the Agribusiness Incubator Program at the University of Hawaii, and has contributed to hundreds of businesses in a wide range of industries across the U.S. in his career as a leader, mentor and management and technology consultant.

TEDxHonoluluSalon 6 will kick off TEDxHonolulu’s 2016 series of events, salons and fun-filled adventures aimed at our mission of presenting some of the best minds that Hawaii and the global community have to offer. By featuring dynamic and innovative individuals drawn from the diverse, multi-cultural nature of our community, our vision is to be a local forum for “Ideas Worth Spreading” that inspire people to challenge themselves, build their community, and engage with innovators across the world.
We’ll begin announcing more details about the March 15, 2016 TEDxHonoluluSalon 6 soon, so stay posted!
